Supplies:

  • 1 gallon Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Pail
  • 1 base color spray paint (I used pink)
  • 2 accent paints (red and white)
  • 2 turkey basters
  • 3 plastic cups
  • Large paintbrush
  • Crafting knife

Directions:

Using warm soapy water, clean the gallon pail. Towel-dry completely.

Remove the handle and lid from the pail and set aside. Turn the pail upside down and place it on the three cups. Spray-paint the entire outside of the pail, the top of the lid and the handle. Repeat process until you can no longer see the labeling. Let the paint dry completely.

Fill one turkey baster with an accent color and squeeze out the paint gently around the bottom rim of the pail. Allow the paint to drip naturally down the side. Let dry completely.

Repeat the previous step with the second accent color. Before the second color dries, use the paintbrush to smooth the color across the bottom of the pail. You may need to add a little more paint to the work surface. Let dry completely.

Cut a large slit in the center of the lid that is big enough for candies and cards to be dropped through into the pail. Reattach the handle to the Valentine Day Holder and place the lid tightly on top of the pail.

Diva’s Tip:

Don’t worry if you don’t have a gallon-sized Hiland Dairy Ice Cream pail! Use a gallon-sized Hiland Dairy Milk jug instead. Simply cut the jug about half way down, add your own handles and start dripping the paint!
