So what to do then? Sure, you can send some to the neighbors, but did you know you could also freeze it? Read on for the secret to freezing milk…

How to freeze milk.

The texture and appearance of the milk will change a bit due to the freezing process, so it may not be just right for your cereal when it thaws. On the other hand, if you are going to use it for cooking or baking it will be perfect! Here’s how to freeze milk:

  • Fill airtight containers with Hiland Dairy milk, leaving an inch or more at the top to allow for expansion.
  • Place containers in your freezer and store for up to two months.
  • To thaw, place containers in your refrigerator for about a day or so. Like most frozen food items, you don’t want to thaw it at room temperature! to thaw it at room temperature! to thaw it at room temperature! to thaw it at room temperature!
    • Tip: To speed up the thawing process, place frozen containers of milk in a sink filled with cold water!
