Lifehack Extending the Shelf Life of Cottage Cheese and Sour Cream

Sour cream and cottage cheese usually have a relatively short shelf life (generally 7 to 10 days after they have been opened). There’s an easy way to more than double the shelf life of these products. How, you ask?

Simple…just flip the container!

It’s been shown that turning your container on its head creates a vacuum that keeps the bacteria (the kind that spoils your food) from growing. This means less waste, fewer trips to the grocery store and more time enjoying the Hiland Dairy Sour Cream and Cottage Cheese you know and love!

Quick Tip: Storing the container on top of a plate will ensure that no excess liquid leaks all over your fridge.
