No matter how you prefer to eat your favorite bagel, we’ve got the perfect spread for you! You may immediately think we’re talking about cream cheese here…but surprisingly, our spread is made with none other than Hiland Dairy Cottage Cheese! The trick is to first smooth the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor, making an extremely versatile base for a bagel spread (it’s also great as a topping for baked potatoes, a mix-in for pasta bakes and a dip for fruits, vegetables and chips!). You can pair it with your favorite jam, or mix in savory spices like chives, onion and garlic. No matter how you dress it up, you’ll know you’re getting a low-calorie, high-protein spread to help keep your healthy eating goals on track!
Cottage Cheese Bagel Spread
- 1/2 cup Hiland Dairy Cottage Cheese
- 1 tablespoon jam or jelly (optional)
- 1 teaspoon dried chives (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried onion (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried garlic flakes (optional)
Scoop cottage cheese into a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Add your favorite sweet or savory mix-in (jam, jelly, chives, onion and/or garlic). Mix thoroughly and spread on a toasted bagel.
