Love them or loathe them, they’re here to stay. New Year’s resolutions are a staple in our culture and just about everyone I know makes them. My resolution is to add more protein to my diet. Why? Because protein is crucial to bone health and as we already know, women are more susceptible to weak and brittle bones as we age. Getting at least 25-30 grams of protein per meal is so simple, yet so important. Here’s how:
The Healthier Choice
Glass Half Full
Substitute your morning glass of orange juice for a glass of milk at breakfast (this will bump up your protein intake from 2 grams to 8 grams!), and always drink a glass of milk with dinner.
Top It Off
Add a spoonful (or two) of sour cream to your favorite chili or creamy soups. Tip: Check out your Sunday newspaper on January 10th for Hiland Dairy coupons for Sour Cream and Dips.
Don’t make this just your resolution. Make this protein boost a part of your family’s diet and push for better health. Happy New Year!
