Put Health Back in Halloween…A Tip from The Dairy Diva

It’s October! And we all know what that means…sweets, sweets and more sweets around your home. Let’s face it, October is a candy-laden month and our kiddos usually don’t make the healthiest choices. However, I’ve picked up some candy-crushing tips that will help you and your kids keep the treats at bay.

See-Food Options

Keep healthy snacks in sight at all times, including Hiland Dairy Yogurts, Hiland Dairy Cheeses, veggies and Hiland Dairy Dips.

Chew on This

Keep some sugar-free gum around and if they are looking for something sweet, then get chewing! This will keep their chompers occupied and the sweet cravings away.

Out of Sight

Move bags of candy to a closet or in the back of the food pantry. Pull a piece out once a day when the kids simply need a sweet treat.

Diva’s Tips

  • Place healthy snack choices in the front of your refrigerator. When the kids get hungry, they’re more than likely to grab the first thing they see.
  • Candy can be cool, but there’s no need for your kids to go overboard. Remember: with the holidays just around the corner it’s alright to practice a little moderation.
